Apple released its iOS 10 Developer Beta only a couple of hours ago, and users are already experiencing issues with installation. If you too are receiving an Error 14 while trying to install the latest and feature-packed iOS 10, here is what you can do to fix the problem.

Many Apple fans are reportedly struggling with iOS 10 Error 14 issue. While the download may take longer for you due to extreme traffic, this is a different issue. When users are trying to update the new mobile operating system while restoring from the backup, they are unable to make the upgrade. Previously, when updating to iOS 8 and subsequently with iOS 9, it was possible to update to the new software while restoring from the backup.
You can restore after you update, but can’t restore while updating, – User.
A number of users have reported trying out different fixes for the issue, but to no avail. One user shared, “Tried four times. Different USB ports, DFU mode, etc.” While another said, “same issue here trying to update to 10.0. Tried different USB cables, ports, rebooted, disabled anti-virus, etc.”

If you are also stuck with the update process due to Error 14, here is what you can do to fix iOS 10 Error 14.
Take a backup, and then do a clean restore of iOS 9.3.2. Before restoring your personal backup, clean restore iOS 10 using the IPSW file you have downloaded. Proceed to data backups after you have installed iOS 10.
Apple has suggested to check your USB device, and use another device if it’s not working.

And most importantly, make sure you have the latest version of Xcode 8 installed.
Users have reported that doing a clean restore with the latest version of Xcode 8 helps fixing this issue. Apple’s support page also says “You must have the latest version of Xcode 8 installed on your Mac before using a Restore image to install iOS or tvOS beta software on a device”.
